How is the Yin Mat different from a regular yoga mat?

Unlike traditional yoga mats, the Yin Mat is thicker and more cushioned, providing superior support for restorative practices like Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation. Its plush surface helps reduce joint pain and discomfort, making it ideal for extended relaxation sessions.

How do you use your Yin Mat as a meditation cushion?

Great question! If you fold your mat like a Z with the bottom level sticking out just a bit to support your ankles and feet, you will have a supremely supportive meditation cushion! Here's a quick video demonstrating the art of the Z Throne.

What materials are used in the Yin Mat?

The core of the Yin Mat is made from 100% organic latex, sourced ethically from the sap of rubber trees. The covers are available in various materials, including cotton, faux fur, wool, and bamboo velour.

What sizes are available for the Yin Mat?

The Yin Mat comes in multiple sizes, including a family size perfect for co-regulating. Whether you need a personal mat or one that accommodates multiple people, we have a size that fits your needs.

How do I clean and care for my Yin Mat?

The Yin Mat covers are all removable and  you can throw them in the washer on cold. For the Wild Rose and Wonder Queen (wool blend top) put cover back on damp. Fluff up faux fur by brushing with a metal dog brush when dry. *please scroll to the bottom for a detailed breakdown

Can the Yin Mat be used for other activities besides yoga?

🌿 Caring for Your Yin Mat Faux Fur Cover

To keep your sacred rest spot soft, clean, and cozy:

🧺 Wash With Love

  • Machine wash on delicate or hand-wash cycle

  • Use cold water and a mild, fragrance-free detergent

  • Avoid fabric softeners, enzymes, or essential oils

🌬️ Dry With Care

  • Air dry only — lay flat or hang in the shade

  • Keep away from direct sun or heat (no dryer, please!)

🪶 Fluff + Restore

  • Once dry, use a metal pet brush to gently re-fluff the fibers

  • Brush in the direction of the fur to keep it luscious and plush

🌿 Wool Cover Care Instructions

🧺 Gentle Spot Clean (Preferred)

  • For small stains or spills, dab with a cloth and cold water

  • Use mild wool detergent (like Eucalan, Woolite, or Dr. Bronner’s Unscented—diluted)

  • Avoid rubbing — blot gently to prevent matting

🌀 If Machine Washing Is Needed

  • Only wash if necessary

  • Use cold water, wool cycle or delicate cycle

  • Use a wool-safe detergent (no enzymes, bleach, or fabric softeners)

  • Place inside a mesh laundry bag to reduce agitation

🌬️ Dry with Caution

  • Absolutely no dryer

  • Lay flat in a shaded area to air dry

  • Never hang—wet wool stretches!

🪶 Restore the Fluff

  • Once completely dry, gently shake out or use a metal brush or wide-tooth comb

  • Fluff with your fingers and love 😌

🌿 Care Instructions for Wool Blend Covers

(e.g., suit-like fabric – sleek, natural, and breathable)

🧺 Wash With Care

  • Machine wash on delicate or wool cycle with cold water

  • Use a mild, wool-safe detergent (like Eucalan, Woolite, or a diluted natural one)

  • Do not use bleach, enzymes, or fabric softeners

🌬️ Dry Gently

  • After washing, gently squeeze (don’t wring) out excess water

  • Lay flat to air dry OR stretch gently over your latex mat while still damp

    • This helps it retain its shape and avoid shrinkage

    • Smooth it gently with your hands while on the mat

🧽 Touch-Ups

  • If needed, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap between washes
